Icom UK have teamed up with sucessful yachtsman and Kent architect Peter Jackson, whose Stimson 42 yacht "Assassin" was renamed the "Icom Assassin" earlier this year. As part of the sponsorship, Icom UK supplied Skipper/Helmsman Peter and part owner Gary Shaffer with an IC-M505 VHF/DSC marine transceiver, Icom HM-162 Waterproof Remote-control Microphone and two IC-M71 handheld marine transceivers for use on the vessel.

Deja Vu at the 2009 RYA Youth RIB Championship Final
It was a case of deja vu at the 2009 Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship Final when reigning champions Aaron Lowther, 16, and Steven Curtis, 12, both blasted their way to Championship victory once again at the PSP Southampton Boat Show today (Sunday 13th September).

West Midlands Powerboating Champs Rev up for National Final
Despite dealing with the difficult weather conditions of strong winds and choppy waters, it was 12 year old Hannah Stevens and 15 year old Henry Andrew who romped home to claim victory at the West Midlands regional final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship, held at Blithfield Sailing Club, Abbots Bromley over the weekend (5 September.)

Guernsey Powerboaters Gear up for National Final
Guernsey powerboating aces, Stephanie Topley, 14, and Jacob Sidebottom, 10, will take on the UK's best young RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) driving talent next weekend (Sunday 13th September) when they compete at the National Final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship.

RYA Youth RIB Champions 2009 to be decided
Thirty two talented young power boaters from across the UK and Gibraltar will be hitting the water at the PSP Southampton Boat Show on Sunday the 13th of September, putting their skill, control and speed to the test in a race against the clock. They hope to clinch the prestigious title of 2009 RYA Youth RIB National Champion.

Gibraltars RIB drivers rev up for Championship Final!
Gibraltar's best young RIB drivers, Jordan Warwick, 10, and Dylan Mauro, 13, will be travelling to the PSP Southampton Boat Show in two weeks time (September 13) to compete against the UK's top RIB driving talent in the final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship. The youngsters proved their skills and won their places at the national final when they claimed victory in 8-12 and 13-16 age group classes of the Gibraltar overseas final held at the Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club (RGYC) this weekend (31 August).

Young RIB Drivers off to National Final
Two young RIB drivers, Harry Blaser and Alex Mitchell, will be heading off to the national final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship after winning the Thames Valley Regional Final of the championship on Saturday the 22nd of August. Icom UK are providing the Championship with a prize of a IC-M505 VHF radio, for use at the winner's chosen club.

Sea Scouts Step up to the RYA Youth RIB Championship Challenge
Sea Scouts Billy Brooks, 14, and Jonathan Lile, 11, will be heading off to the Southampton Boat Show in September where they will compete in the National Final of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship. They won the first ever Sea Scout championship heats held last week (Wednesday, 5 August). Icom UK are providing the Championship with a prize of a VHF radio, for use at the winner's chosen club.

Podium success for Team Fox at Lowestoft Grand Prix 2009!
Fox Marine Services powerboat team, Team Fox finished in an impressive 3rd place on the third weekend race of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Race Series. Strong finishes at previous races at Pwllheli and Plymouth leave Team Fox in 8th place overall in the Championship. Icom UK have supplied the team with an IC-M421 VHF/DSC and an IC-M31 Handheld Transceiver for use throughout the series.

Earthrace is verified World Record Holder!
Last year Icom UK sponsored "Earthrace", a 100% biofuel eco-boat which completed a round the world speed record. Almost exactly one year on from "Earthrace" crossing the finish line in Spain on 27 June 2008, her international crew of volunteers have been officially recognised as world records holders for circumnavigating the globe in a powerboat. They smashed the previous record by almost 2 weeks!

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) is receiving support for the next five years from Icom, worldwide manufacturers of high quality radio communications. Nick Power's £10,000 RNLI Challenge
Nick Power a Public Relations Officer from the Royal National Lifeboat Institute is attempting a charity fundraising trip involving fishing from 44 RNLI Lifeboat locations around the UK in 30 days, with an added challenge from the locals to complete at every stop. His ambitious aim is to raise £10,000 for the RNLI along the way. Icom UK have supported Nick with an IC-M33 VHF Marine Transceiver as a fundraising prize and challenged him to make 10 radio contacts from Icom UK's Amateur radio shack.

Icom UK Sponsors Powerboat Team Fox!
This summer Jersey based Fox Marine Services will be competing in the largest off-shore powerboat race in the World; the Honda Formula 4-Stroke powerboat race series. Icom UK have supplied the team with an IC-M421 VHF/DSC and an IC-M31 Handheld Transceiver for use throughout the series. The team are hoping their race bid will raise the profile of powerboat racing in Jersey and hopefully will be the first step in bringing the series to the island.
